Raymond Gearhart, 69, was at his home in Sandbridge when he went to be with the Lord, June 20, 1996.
Mr. Gearhart, a native of Salem, Va., was a self-employed contractor with his business, Ray's Home Improvements. He was president of Trustees for Sandbridge Community Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Gearhart; four daughters, Janet Mickens of Richmond, Kris Barchick and her husband, Jon, of Virginia Beach, Karen Gunther and her husband, Stephen, of Virginia Beach, and Ashley Rogers of Virginia Beach; two sons, Raymond Michael Gearhart of Richmond, Raymond Lee Gearhart of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Christiansburg, Va., and Lillian Sink; six grandchildren, Chuckie, Tonia, Jonathan, Carrie, Tyler, and Hailey; a great-grandchild, Benjamin.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Sandbridge Community Chapel, by the Rev. Edward S. Martin. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sandbridge Community Chapel Building Fund. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge.
