Collection of Edgar T. Brown

This old windmill that was on Broad Bay Manor farm, later referred

to as the John B. Dey place, is dated 1896 and was drawn by Annie A.

Ferbee who lived on the farm with Enoch D. Ferbee. Three generations

of Ferbees lived on the land, which was originally patented by

William Cornick in 1640. The tract of land was 10,000 acres

including all of Cape Henry, the village of the Chesapeake Indians

and on to the Thoroughgood property. By the time this windmill

sketch was made, it was in great disrepair. by CNB
