DeRayford B. Garrett, 49, of the 1200 block of Commerce St., died June 18, 1996.
Mr. Garrett, a native of Norfolk County, was a teacher with the Washington, D.C., school system. He was a member of St. Thomas AMEZ Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include his father, John Willie Garrett of Danville, Va.; a stepsister, Maxine Motley of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Carlton L. Adolphus Burke of Chesapeake; a stepbrother, James Motley of Roanoke; a niece; four nephews; five aunts; five uncles; a host of relatives and friends; and five great-nephews and a great niece.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by Dr. G.L. Scott in St. Thomas AMEZ Church. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons' Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge.
