WELL DONE, TIM TIMMONS

When I read in the Tidewater Motorist that after 69 years with AAA of Tidewater, Va., J. T. ``Tim'' Timmons had retired as executive officer, I knew how the subjects of the British Empire felt when Queen Victoria left the throne.

It has been my pleasure and my privilege to have known Tim Timmons for more than 60 years, when his office was in the lobby of the old Monticello Hotel on Granby Street in Norfolk. His entire career has been dedicated to serving the motoring public of this area. He has performed his duty with industry, distinction, honesty and integrity.

I've known Tim on the golf course at the old Commissioned Officers' Gulf Club, where he was a fierce competitor and a fine golfer and, more important, always a smiling gentleman.

He may not have achieved the financial rewards of Thomas Watson of IBM, of David Packard of Hewlett-Packard or Bill Gates of Microsoft, but his professional ability as the CEO of the local AAA affiliates has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.

If I were asked to describe in one word the character trait that best typifies this fine man, I would say without reservation - integrity.

The unparalleled success and growth of the AAA chapters in the Hampton Roads area are due to his industry, his loyalty to his employees and his intense desire to serve his subscribers.
