LONNIE O. CLARK JR.

Dr. Lonnie O. Clark Jr., D.D.S., 78, of the 3800 block of Holly Dune Lane, died June 23, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.

Dr. Clark was born in Zebulon, N.C. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, served in the United States Navy Dental Corps during World War II and established his dental practice in Virginia Beach in 1946.

Dr. Clark attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry, class of 1943.

Dr. Clark was a member, past president and treasurer of the Tidewater Dental Association, past president of the Virginia Dental Association from 1980 to 1981, and a member of the American Dental Association. He was a charter member and first president of the Virginia Beach Dental Society, the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, the Federation of Prosthodontics, Pierre Fouchard Academy and a fellow of International College of Dentists. In 1992 Dr. Clark received the Richard F. Simmons Memorial Award from the Tidewater Dental Association.

He was a charter member of the Virginia Beach Jaycees, past president, secretary and treasurer of the Virginia Beach Rotary Club, a member of the Princess Anne Country Club, the Phi Gamma Delta and the Dental Fraternity Delta Sigma Delta.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn M. Clark; three sons, L.O. Clark III and his wife, Marianne; Michael L. Clark and his wife, Judy, and Steven T. Clark and his wife, Patti, all of Virginia Beach; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are pending with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel.
