David Dickersen ``Dick'' Buck died June 22, 1996, at his home. He was 81. He was born in Castlewood, Va., on June 25, 1914.

He was a graduate of Tri-State College in Angola, Ind. He was a founding member and first president of Lynnhaven Colony Civic League, Hardee's Breakfast Club on Shore Drive and Texaco Retired Employees Club of Norfolk. He worked in a small family business for one year before joining Texaco Inc. He gave Texaco 40 years of service as a truck driver, warehouseman, manager of wholesale development for all of the United States, and retired as an assistant division manager in Atlanta, Ga., in 1975.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ralsten Buck, in 1990. Mr. Buck is survived by a son, David D. Buck Jr. of Abingdon, Va.; a daughter, Joan B. Lunsford of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Lillian B. Kiser of Castlewood, Va.; a granddaughter, Whitney B. Canada of North Carolina; and a faithful friend and companion, Lois Fortune.

The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Charles L. Wood. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrance may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
