A 31-year-old man drowned Sunday in an apartment-complex swimming pool, police said.
The man, identified as James Johnson, lived in the complex.
Witnesses said Johnson was under water unnoticed for about two minutes before he was aided. Efforts by a lifeguard and paramedics to revive him failed.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Manor Apartments swimming pool in the 3100 block of Fairview St.
Johnson was taken to Chesapeake General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
