ROGER R. ALSTON

Roger R. Alston, of the 6400 block of Sedgefield Drive, died June 21, 1996, in his home.

Mr. Alston was born in Nash County, N.C., and was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Campostella, Norfolk. He was the owner of Selden Arcade Barber Shop in Norfolk and retired after 51 years of service. He was a member of Bachelor Benedict Social Club of Norfolk and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Rachel Manning of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Bertle Alston of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Floyd Riddick of Portsmouth; two nieces, Wilhelmenia Jones of Chesapeake and Saundra Sims of Florida; two nephews, Willie E. Alston Jr. and George A. Alston of Norfolk; a cousin, Josephine West of New York; and many other surviving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at noon by the Rev. Paul Griffith in Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Campostella, Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
