PROSSER S. CARNEGIE

Mr. Prosser Sands ``Sandy'' Carnegie, of 1022 Churchill Road, Davidson, N.C., died June 24, 1996, at Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Carnegie was born in Norfolk, son of the late Garnet Sands Carnegie and Prosser Carnegie. He was a graduate of Davidson College and a decorated Army veteran of World War II. He was retired executive director of the Davidson College Wildcat Club. He was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carnegie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen DeVane Carnegie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at Davidson College Presbyterian Church with the Revs. John W. Kuykendall and Thomas W. Blair officiating. Burial is in Mimosa Cemetery. Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight in the Fellowship Hall of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church.

Pallbearers are Julius ``Jake'' Wade, Charles ``Lefty'' Driesell, Shirley ``Red'' Wilson, Hollis ``Hobbie'' Cobb, Mac Erwin, Ed Sutton, Hal Mapes, Charles ``Buddy'' Chandler and George ``Buddy'' Cheek. Honorary pallbearers are Charles ``Red'' Neisler, Henry Neisler, Terry Holland, Don Bryant, John Lyles, John Tobin, Ed Kania, Pat Baker, Dave Fagg, Craig Wall, Oliver ``Bo'' Roddy, Bob McKillop, Jim Richards, Louise Martin, Angus McBryde, Whit Cobb, Jay Wade, Tom Couch, Charlie Patterson, John Carroll, Robert T. Cashion and Jane Blount.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Sean Lacey; son and daughter-in-law, Prosser DeVane ``Sandy'' and Robbie Carnegie of Davidson; four grandchildren, Thomas Carnegie-Smith Stewart of Gainesville, Fla., Annie Robbie Carnegie, Prosser DeVane Carnegie, Katherine DeVane Lacey of Davidson; a sister, Mrs. Aden Scott of Norfolk.

Memorials may be made to the Prosser Sands Carnegie and Helen DeVane Carnegie Scholarship, Davidson College, P.O. Box 266, Davidson, N.C. 28036. Harry and Bryant Co. is serving the family of Mr. Carnegie.
