A ceremony today will celebrate the restoration of the 1920s-era footbridge at the Whalehead Club. The public is invited to the ribbon cutting.
``A wooden bridge is one of those links to the past that can still be incorporated in today's transportation system,'' said Jerry Stot, local historian. ``The Whalehead footbridge is very special to Currituck because it has been here so long and is so unique.''
Local officials, Board of Transportation member R.V. Owens III and Buck Thornton, chairman of the restoration committee, will lead the ceremony. by CNB
