SUFFOLK BOY INJURED

A 12-year-old boy was injured Sunday when he was pinned between a truck and a telephone pole in his yard.

The accident happened about 7:20 p.m. in the 3400 block of Godwin Blvd.

Chris Lawson was trying to use the truck to jump start a lawn mower, said police spokesman Mike Simpkins. The truck rolled backward toward a telephone pole, and Lawson apparently panicked and jumped out, Simpkins said. The youngster was caught between the door and the pole, he said.

Lawson was taken by Nightingale emergency helicopter to Sentara-Norfolk General Hospital, where he was treated in the emergency room and later released, a Nightingale spokeswoman said.
