The owner of a house trailer was injured in a weekend fire that destroyed his residence in the Magnolia Lakes Mobile Home Park.
The fire, reported about 12:55 a.m. Sunday, began in the living room, fire officials said.
Owner James Hansen of the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway apparently had been smoking while sitting on a couch, said fire spokesman Jeff Messinger.
Hansen, awakened by his dog's barking, tried to put out the blaze until intense smoke and fire forced him to retreat, Messinger said.
He was taken by the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad to Obici Hospital, where he was treated in the emergency room for smoke inhalation and later released, fire officials said.
