Norfolk resident Diana L. Blanchard has been named curator of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News. She has worked at the center as programs assistant and as a graduate intern. She was curator for the exhibition Arturo Rodriguez and Demi: Two Visions - Artists in Exile.
Norfolk resident Nerissa W. Behrmann has been named volunteer program manager at Volunteer Hampton Roads. She will oversee volunteer recruitment and management for Festevents projects.
Five Eastern Virginia Medical School faculty members were given the Dean's Faculty Achievement Awards at a reception and ceremony at the Town Point Club on June 6. Dr. Howard W. Jones Jr. and Dr. Georgeanna S. Jones, Norfolk residents and professors of obstetrics and gynecology, shared the Dean's Outstanding Faculty Award.
Other award winners were Dr. E. Stephen Buescher, associate professor of pediatrics in The Center for Pediatric Research, who was given an award for achievement in teaching in the basic sciences; Dr. James E. Etheridge Jr., professor of neurology and former dean and provost, who was given the award for achievement in institutional service; Dr. Sture V. Sigfred Jr., a Norfolk resident and assistant professor of radiology and president of Medical Center Radiologists, who was given the award for achievement by a community faculty.
