William Arthur ``Mickey'' Evans Jr., 75, of the 800 block of Bouie Court, passed away June 25, 1996.

Mickey was born Jan. 21, 1921, in High Point, N.C., and relocated to Portsmouth in 1942. He was the proprietor of Mickey's Barber Shop and served the Portsmouth community for more than 51 years until his retirement in December 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta; his sister, Eunice Webb of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter and four sons, Jacqueline Stewart of Northern Virginia, William and Ronald of San Jose, Calif., Larry of Fort Washington, Md., and Michael of Virginia Beach; along with 10 grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, in Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2710 Columbus Ave., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the residence and will assemble there the day of the funeral.
