Berkeley A. Pollok Jr., a retired real estate appraiser, died June 26, 1996.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Pollok, a native of Danville, Va., and a Virginia Tech graduate, was president of Pollok and Associates, a real estate appraisal firm. He also was an Army artillery officer, having served in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Pollok held senior designations in National Appraisal Organizations and had served as president of the local chapters. He also was a past board member of Tidewater Board of Realtors. Mr. Pollok had been in the building supply and construction business prior to becoming a real estate appraiser.
Mr. Pollok was also a member of Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church and was a past chairman of the Board of Stewards, as well as a Sunday school teacher. He was a past board member of the Kiwanis Club of Norfolk, a member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, and a past member of the Harbor Club and the Norfolk Sports Club. He also helped form the Cromwell Farm Civic League and was elected as its first president.
Survivors include his loving wife, Merle Black Pollok; his son, William R. Pollok and daughter, Shirley P. Wood; two granddaughters, Allison and Laura Pollok; and a brother, William C. Pollok of Winston Salem, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Colonial Avenue United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel today from 7 to 8 p.m.
