Robert Lloyd Sampson, 64, of the 2300 block of Greenwood Drive, died in the Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Va., on Wednesday, June 26, 1996.
He was the son of the late Walter H. and Ruby Wakefield Sampson. Mr. Sampson was retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service as a chief warrant officer 02. He was born in Kennebunk, Maine, on Feb. 6, 1932, and was a longtime resident of the Cradock area of Virginia.
He is survived by a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in the Cradock Baptist Church with the Dr. David R. Denny officiating. VFW funeral ritual will be accorded at the church. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW post (NU)993. Mr. Sampson will be sent to Bibber's Funeral in Kennebunk, Maine. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
