Ira Wayne (Nicky) Markham, 37, of Norfolk and formerly of Big Island, died Wednesday, June 26, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Bedford County on Nov. 5, 1958, a son of James Edward and Naomi McDaniel Markham of Big Island. He was research associate with Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk and a member of the Tabernacle Church of God, Big Island.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren E. and Sharon T. Markham of Goode, David A. and Leigh Ann Markham, Randy L. and Kristie L. Markham, all of Big Island; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janet L. Markham of Lynchburg, Wanda G. and Ronald C. Sanderson of Goode; his maternal grandfather, the Rev. William H. McDaniel of Montvale.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tabernacle Church of God with the Rev. Samuel F. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, where family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
