Robert Caswell Powell, 65, of the 4200 block of Genoa Crescent, died June 28, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Powell, a native of Portsmouth, was retired from Painter-Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired from Nu-Car Carriers after 28 years. He was a member of Green Lakes Baptist Church, Churchland Masonic Lodge (NU)276, Esther Chapter (NU)37, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Hunter E. Powell; his mother, Susie Cotton Powell of Portsmouth; a daughter, Gloria Allison of Chesapeake; a son, Robert E. Powell of Chesapeake; two sisters, Peggy Sue Wisehart of Chesapeake, Jackie Shepheard of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Heather Allison, Robert and Sherri Powell.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Masonic rites in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
