Joseph L. Brenner, age 53, died at his home in Silver Springs, Md., on June 27, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Norfolk on June 14, 1943. He graduated from Granby High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years on the U.S.S. Randolph during the Cuban Crisis Blockade. He retired after 30 years from the Washington, D.C., Police Dept. and the DEA as detective first class.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 28 years; a son, Howard and his wife, Michelle; a daughter, Jodi of Silver Springs; a brother Michael Brenner and his wife, Michelle of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Jacalyn, B. Newberg and her husband Steve, of Norfolk; his parents, Fred and Pearl Brenner of Norfolk; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Shirley Brenner, of Silver Springs.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Danzansky Funeral Parlor in Rockville, Md. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to The American Cancer Society.
