Katie Bayne Culverhouse died Thursday, June 27, 1996, at home. She was 82 years old.
The widow of Allen Culverhouse and daughter of Katie Rosalind Butler and Edgar Cabel Bayne, she was born in Selma, Ala. She moved with her family to Virginia Beach in 1946. Katie owned and operated Timbre Record Center from 1963 until she retired in 1974.
She is survived by four children, Betty Jean McLaughlin of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Louise Smith of Kissimmee, Fla., Edgar Allen Culverhouse of Lynchburg, and William Edward Culverhouse of Charlottesville. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Carolyn Rees of Virginia Beach; and her brother, John Clayton Bayne Sr. of Jackson, Miss. She had eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She also had a niece, Virginia Ann Jenkins of Virginia Beach; and a nephew, John Clayton Bayne Jr. of Jackson, Miss.
A private graveside service will be held in Princess Anne Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Paul C. Bailey. Friends may join the family at Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, Sunday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
