Joseph Schneider, 83, died June 27, 1996, in a Florida hospital.
Mr. Schneider was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband. He was a native of Poland, and had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Schneider was a former member of Brith Sholom, Knights Of Pythias and former president of The Concord Village Condos.
Survivors include his wife, Bettye Schneider; two daughters, Natalie and her husband Larry Saunders of Virginia Beach, Phylis and her husband Danny Siegel of Jackson Heights, N.Y.; two sons, Bruce and his wife Marsha Schneider of Flushing, N.Y., David and his wife Sue Anne Gruber of Edison, N.J.; a sister, Helen Goldman of Coral Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Debbi and her husband Barry Mandell of St. Louis, Mo., Jeffrey and his wife Stephanie Saunders of Chesapeake, Mark and his wife Cory Schneider of Lake Grove, N.Y., Tracy Schneider of Flushing, Debbie and her husband Foud El Sheikh of Jackson Heights, N.Y., Stephanie and her husband Jay Boyarsky of New York, N.Y., Jana Siegel of New York, N.Y., Randi Gruber of Edison, N.J.; and four great-grandchildren, Jamie and Nicole Mandell of St. Louis, and Amanda and Brittany Schneider of Lake Grove, N.Y.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 1996, in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Cantor Jacob Tessler. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Diabetes Institutes Foundation of Eastern Virginia Medical School or a charity of choice. The family will be at 3556 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
