A newcomer from Geogia destroys one of the most prestigious theater programs in the country, the Norfolk Public Schools Performing Arts Repertory program, successful because of the dedication of its director, Connie Hindmarsh.
The newcomer tries to justify his actions by slipping the students into a regional program and, just imagine, it will cost the taxpayers only $2,900 a student! Multiply that by 40! I'll bet Mrs. Hindmarsh doesn't make anywhere near $116,000 yearly.
Your newspaper reports that private negotiations are being held ``to try to settle the matter without a hearing.'' Sounds like someone is trying to cover up the superintendent's blunder.
Connie Hindmarsh has nothing to hide. She was cleared of all charges by Child Protective Services and has been an outstanding citizen in Norfolk for 40 years.
As a taxpayer, I demand that school Superintendent Roy Nichols be made accountable for his ridiculous actions.
