Richard Rainey Elsasser, 36, died June 29 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mr. Elsasser was born and raised in Norfolk. He was the husband of Beatrix Dekker Elsasser and the father of Kyra Nichole. He is the son of Madaline O. Elsasser and the late Dr. George F. Elsasser Jr. Mr. Elsasser was a graduate of Blue Ridge Academy and Old Dominion University. He was a Certified Public Accountant with Beverly Enterprises in Fort Smith Arkansas.
Mr. Elsasser is also survived by his sisters, Demi Elsasser Wheeler and her husband, J. Scott Wheeler, Carolyn A. Elsasser and her husband, Charles Black, and Maryann Elsasser; a brother, George F. Elsasser III; an aunt, Margaret Elsasser Moring; an uncle, Leo Francis O'Kane; a nephew, Jeffery O'Kane Wheeler and a niece, Jessica Kingery Wheeler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, 36th St. and Pacific Ave. by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at his mother's home, 6140 Rolfe Ave., Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to the Richard R. Elsasser Scholarship Fund, c/o Beverly Enterprises, 5111 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, Ark. 72919. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
