ROBERT C. HANCKEL

Robert C. ``Bobby'' Hanckel, 63, of the 800 block of Gates Ave., died June 28, 1996.

Mr. Hanckel was born in Norfolk, Va., and attended Norfolk Academy. He was a former employee of Wetzel Seed Company. He was the grandson of the late Norfolk Circuit Court Judge Allan Reeves Hanckel and Alice Watts Robertson Hanckel, and the son of the late Circuit Court Clerk William R. Hanckel and Evelyn Clower Hanckel. Mr. Hanckel was, for many years, a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Norfolk, 25 years of which he served as an accolade. He was member of the Elk's Lodge 38 and served as their chaplain for many years.

Mr. Hanckel is survived by a brother, Allan R. Hanckel of Virginia Beach; three nephews, Allan Robertson Hanckel Jr. of N.J., William Robertson Hanckel II of Md., and Carter Allan Hanckel of Virginia Beach; two great-nephews, Allan Robertson Hanckel III and John Henry Hanckel; and his first cousins, Mrs. A. Garey Lambert Jr. of Towson, Md., and Berryman Green IV of Norfolk.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Reverend Richard Reid. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the favorite charity of the donor's choice.
