Mortie B. Jones, 83, of 110 Suburban Parkway, died July 1, 1996, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Jones was born in Fairmont, N.C., and was the widow of Harold Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk for 39 years. She was a member of Faith Bible Class and Joy Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris J. Moore and Susan J. Ellis and her husband, Jake, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, Edward P. Jones and his wife, Wanda, and Donald H. Jones, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Viola Allen of Fairmont, N.C., and Tessie Clewis of Lumberton, N.C.; four granddaughters, Constance Keyes, Michelle Ellis, Tiffany Jones and Crystal Jones; four grandsons, Michael Moore, Steven Moore, Keith Jones and Jimmy Ellis; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Buck R. Jones, and is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Jones of Harrisonburg, Va.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mike James in First Baptist Church of Norfolk. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
