ATLANTIC COMMAND'S SAMS NOMINATED FOR PROMOTION, TRANSFER

Air Force Maj. Gen. John B. Sams, director of plans and policy for the U.S. Atlantic Command, headquartered in Norfolk, has been nominated for promotion to the three-star rank of lieutenant general.

He is to become vice director of the Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Ill.

Maj. Gen. William T. Hobbins, currently commander of Kadena Air Force Base, located on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa, is to succeed Sams here. by CNB
