Katherine Virginia Gettier, 83, of the 1400 block of Boxwood Drive, died July 2, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Portsmouth and the widow of Guy P. Gettier. She was a member of River Shore Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis G. Hayth of Chesapeake and Diane G. Richardson of Lynchburg; a son, Russell L. Gettier of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. William C. Russ. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.
