JOSEPHINE BROWN

Josephine Brown, 84, of the 400 block of Spruce St., died July 1, 1996, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Nansemond County, she was retired from Planters Peanuts after 37 years of service. She was a former member of First Baptist Church Orlando, Suffolk, and was predeceased by her husband, James Brown and her parents, Joseph and Lillie Jones Whitaker.

She is survived by a sister, Lillie Wilson of Smithfield; a brother-in-law, Herbert Wilson of Smithfield; a brother, Curtis Whitaker of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday in Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Newby. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of her niece, Mrs. Dollie Mae Reid, 2501 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk.
