RUTH H. DRAKE

Ruth Virginia Hargrave Drake, 68, died July 1, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Drake was born in Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Sherman and Alice Dunlow Hargrave. She had retired from Hancock Peanut Company and was a former school bus driver for Southampton County Public Schools. She was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting in Hunterdale.

Survivors include her husband, James Council Drake Sr. of Sedley; two daughters, Patricia Beale of Franklin and Jane Koenig of Suffolk; two sons, James ``Chip'' Council Drake Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Goldsboro, N.C., and Wayne Varner Drake of Sedley; two sisters, Irene Truitt and Joyce Jones of Suffolk; three brothers, James Hargrave, Clyde Hargrave and Ray Hargrave, all of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Steven Beale and his wife Jennifer of Franklin, Chris Drake of Goldsboro, Lynn and Amy Williams of Suffolk, Tammy Robinson and her husband Greg of Goldsboro; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Matthew Williams of Suffolk and Ashleigh Brook Robinson of Goldsboro; her close and dear friend, Peggy Jernigan of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. William Hawkins and the Rev. Ashley Ellis. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Patricia Beale, 34514 Brookside Court in Franklin.
