Floyd R. Downing, of the 600 block of Marcus St., died June 29, 1996, in a local hospital. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a member of Mt. Olive COGIC and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his mother, Emily L. Downing of Chesapeake; three aunts, Lowtha Hayes, Josephine Downing and Doris Downing; 18 first cousins; devoted friends, Cle and Paulette Watson and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday in Mt. Olive COGIC by Elder James Whitaker. Burial will be in Chesson Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
