Joan Vaclavicek, 65, formerly of Virginia Beach, died July 1, 1996, at her home.
Born Nov. 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Judith Cunningham Sullivan. She was retired as office manager of the Provost Office of the University of Virginia.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Vaclavicek Sr. of Earlysville; daughters, Nancy Shanley of Old Bridge, N.J., Amy Herrlein of Ruckersville, Va., Susan Facknitz of Harrisonburg, Va., Lisa Sheads of Ruckersville, Va., Melissa Vaclavicek of Charlottesville; sons, Thomas L. Vaclavicek Jr. of Fairfax, Va., David Vaclavicek of Charlottesville, Va.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday in the Teague Chapel, Charlottesville, with Rose Marie Chioni officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 8 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Piedmont, 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Va. 22901.
