Gordon Ware Matlock, 88, of the 3600 block of Riverside Drive, died July 2, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Matlock was born in Leaksville, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Goldman's Shoe Salon.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Matlock; a son, John B. Matlock of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Sallie Anne Tesh of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Una Griffin of Reidsville, N.C., Ola Smith of Greensboro, N.C., Anne Schenck of Orlando; and four granddaughters, Jill Walsh, Jan Matlock, Amie Geremia and Lisa Tesh.
Mr. Matlock had made arrangements to donate his body to Eastern Virginia Medical School. Services are pending.
