Michael J. Vrecenar Sr.
CHESAPEAKE - Michael Joseph Vrecenar Sr., 71, of the 200 block of Christopher Drive, died July 2, 1996, in his residence.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a U.S. Navy C.P.O. and retired from Norfolk Naval Air Station as an electrician supervisor. He was a member of St. Therese's Catholic Church; Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)1815; American Legion (NU)37, Portsmouth; and Portsmouth Moose Lodge (NU)898. He was a navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Zena Mae Vrecenar; three sons, Frederick Vrecenar of San Diego, Calif., Thomas Vrecenar of Chesapeake, Michael J. Vrecenar Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Margaret Zeleny of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph Vrecenar of Houston, Texas, and Anthony Vrecenar of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Edward L. Richardson. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
