John N. Mitchell Jr., of the 100 block of South 9th St., died July 2, 1996, in Hillhaven Nursing Center.
Mr. Mitchell, a native of Montgomery, Ala., was the son of the late John Mitchell Sr. and Matilda Williams Mitchell. He was a member of Longshoreman Local 1248, Norfolk, and East End Baptist Church. He was past president of the senior usher board, and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Helen C. Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by Dr. Mark A. Croston Sr. in East End Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge.
