WRECK VICTIM DIES

A Norfolk man died Tuesday afternoon after he was injured in a single-car accident, police said.

The accident happened at 3:45 p.m. Johnnie Henley, 66, was traveling north on Tidewater Drive near Thole Street when he lost control of the 1977 Cadillac he was driving. He hit a sign, crossed over the Interstate-64 ramp and then hit a metal light pole.

Henley, of the 3000 block of Ballentine Blvd., was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died at 5:50 p.m. A passenger in the Cadillac, Lillie Cole, 42, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General, where she was listed in stable condition.

Neither was wearing a seat belt, police said.
