Willie Sue Benthall Darden, 81, of the 600 block of E. Stokes St., died July 4, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
Born in Hertford County, N.C., she was a retired admissions clerk for Roanoke Chowan Hospital for 31 years. She was a member of Ahoskie First Baptist Church and was predeceased by husbands, John William Benthall and George Darden.
She is survived by a daughter, Anne Benthall Grant and husband, Joseph R. Grant, of Severn, N.C.; grandson, Thomas B. Grant and wife, Kristi G. Grant, of Severn; granddaughter, Betty Jo Sweeney of Williamsburg; five great-granddaughters, Tiffany Vick, Jessica Vick, Alex Vick, Danielle Grant and Julia Grant; two nieces; and two nephews.
A funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday by Dr. Jesse Croom and Dr. Kenneth Hall in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Ahoskie Rescue Squad, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
