Roxie Bell Clagon Whitehurst, 93, of the 900 block of Rugby St., went to be with God on July 2, 1996, in a local hospital.
Roxie was born in Roper, N.C., on June 21, 1903, to the late Roxana and Willie Clagon. She is survived by one son, Theodore L. Whitehurst Sr. of Norfolk; a daughter, Lorraine Jordan of Bronx, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Ruth M. Whitehurst of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren, Selena Frost of Charlotte, N.C., Theodore L. Whitehurst Jr. of Minnesota, Kelvin Whitehurst of Norfolk, Devonne Whitehurst of Norfolk, Ramona Whitehurst of Minnesota, Alton Whitehurst of Norfolk and Troy Whitehurst of Norfolk, Jackie Maddox of Jacksonville, N.C., Sandra Brown of Florida and Yvonne Bell of Norfolk, Carolyn and Myles Sr. of Roper, N.C.; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at Bethel Disciples Church at 2 p.m. on Monday in Roper, N.C. Toodles Funeral Home, 305 Wilson St., Plymouth, N.C. 27962, is handling the arrangements. Friends may join the family at 970 Rugby St., Norfolk 23504. Graves Funeral Home supplied the information.
