EDNA F. TATE

Edna Falconer Tate, 77, of Raff Road, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 1996.

Mrs. Tate was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. Within the church, she was a charter member, former president of the Presbyterian Women, choir member, Circle chairman and taught Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ashbel Pearce Falconer, and her husband, Claude S. Tate Jr.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy B. Falconer of Virginia Beach; one daughter, CDR Dorothy Lou Tate of Scott Air Force Base, Ill.; two sons, Dr. Samuel W. Tate and his wife, Shirley, of Yorktown, and Claude S. Tate III and his wife, Elizabeth, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Dolly F. McGuirt of Virginia Beach and Hope F. Minor and her husband, Parker, of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Lt. Samuel L. Tate and his wife, Amy, of California, Lt. Andrew J. Tate of North Carolina, Janell T. West and her husband, Brian, of Arkansas and Ann T. Smith and her husband, Alex, of Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Caleb T. West and Sarah E. West of Arkansas, and Joseph A. Tate of California.

Service of the Resurrection will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, officiated by the Rev. Clyde Johnson. Entombment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received immediately following the service at the church reception hall. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
