I read the high court's decision on VMI with great interest. This obstacle to equality has fallen, but there is still one more obstacle to topple; the archaic and sexist notion that only men should be compelled to register for the draft.
Women have proved their skill and leadership in the military. Their value to the military in a time of national crisis is unquestionable. I await for the court to strike down this vestige of paternalistic sexism and give women the legal duty to register for compulsory military service on their 18th birthdays as males do now. Anything less would be unfair and unjust.
