Mike Bryant, refuge manager at Pea Island and Alligator River national wildlife refuges, recently delivered a $271,075 refuge revenue-sharing check for Dare County to Terry Wheeler, county manager.
Under the Refuge Revenue Sharing Act, Dare County receives annual payments based on acreage, their value, and the amount of funds available in the refuge fund, plus any congressional appropriations.
All of Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge's 5,915 acres and most of Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge's 152,000 acres are in Dare County. by CNB
