TEN TO REPRESENT CHESAPEAKE IN ALL-STAR GAMES

Ten players in four different sports will represent the Southeastern District when the Virginia High School Coaches Association East-West All-Star games begin Monday .

The All-Star games group the top seniors from around the state for one last high school affiliated event in their respective sport in the summer.

Amanda Adkins and Katie MacPhail will represent the Bruins in the volleyball game on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hampton University.

Dan Dussia, also of Western Branch, will play in the boys soccer game on Tuesday, July 9 at 8 p.m. at Darling Stadium. Sean Gomez of Deep Creek will join Dussia on the team.

Nicole Belote and Calee Morris will represent the Bruins along with Great Bridge's Dana Crisostomo in the Wednesday's softball game at 2 p.m. at Briarfield.

Mike Toliver and Sam Hardy of Indian River and Deon Dyer of Deep Creek will represent Chesapeake in the football game Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Darling Stadium.

GOLDEN OLYMPIANS: Eight senior citizen athletes represented the City of Chesapeake in the 18th Annual Golden Olympics held at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. The Chesapeake seniors were among over 600 participants from around the state who competed in 27 events.

Leo Wohl, who has participated in the games for 13 years, won nine medals in swimming, jump rope and basketball. Mabel Surrat won three gold medals in the track events. Others Chesapeake residents competing in the games were Sally Moore, Atha Wimmer, Ruth Piercy, Marian Irving, Betty White and Esther Vrolyk.
