LLOYD A. DREW

Lloyd A. Drew, 68, of the 1100 block of Lakeview Drive, died July 2, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.

Mr. Drew, a native of Portsmouth, attended Portsmouth Public Schools. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years as a (E-5) SP-5. He was a member and usher of New Hope Baptist Church, St. Julian Creek, Chesapeake. He was a former member of Mount Hermon Baptist Temple Church, Portsmouth. Mr. Drew was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter (NU)27. He was a part-time employee of Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, and Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Franziska Drew; five sons, Leonard Drew and Jesse Drew, both of Spokane, Wash., Jurgen Drew of Orlando, Fla., James ``Leo'' Drew of St. Marys City, Md., and Robert Drew of Portsmouth; three sisters, Thelma Smallwood of Windsor, N.C., Alberta Bates of Portsmouth, Dorothy Purvis of Norfolk; two brothers, William Drew Jr. of Portsmouth, Alonza Drew of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters-in-law, Robin Drew and Sharon Drew; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Bazemore Drew and William Drew; a sister, Gloria H. Goode; and a brother, Garland Todd.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Sidney Foster in New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Chesapeake, with military honors. Viewing will begin at Corprew Funeral Home at 10 a.m. today. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
