Josephine Gibson Speaks, 81, of the 1200 block of Boush Way, died July 5, 1996.
Mrs. Speaks, a native of Statesville, N.C., was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey Speaks; a son, Fred R. Archer of Norfolk; a sister, Catherine Jenkins of Statesville; and two grandchildren, Joshua Archer of Mobile, Ala., Alyssa Blue of Richmond, Va.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Mark Bender in Calvary Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Sentara Leigh Hospice Program or to the American Cancer Society. The body will be sent to Nicholson Funeral Home, Statesville, for a graveside service Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery.
