William L. Johnson, 76, of the 3100 block of Tidal Bay Lane, died July 5, 1996, at a local hospital.
He was Baptist by faith and attended the Bayside Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a SeaBee in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a pipefitter for NORSHIPCO for 18 years.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. and Eva E. Johnson; and two sisters, Evelyn and Estelle.
He is survived by a son, Gary R. Johnson and his wife, Norma Jean, of Chesapeake; a brother, Charles L. Johnson and his wife, Ann, of Exmore; two grandchildren, Rebecca J. Mills and Gregory R. Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Luchard and Krista Bently; and a number of nieces and nephews; a special companion, Grace Reilly of Virginia Beach.
Services will be held at a later date at the Franktown Cemetery in Franktown, Va. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
