STEPHEN D. LORENZ

Stephen Dywer ``Pete'' Lorenz, 73, of Freemason Harbor Condominiums, died Friday, July 5, 1996, in his home.

He was born in St. Joseph, Mo., and retired from IBM after 40 years. He was a World War II veteran.

He was a beloved husband to Janice A. Lorenz; and a loving and committed father to Becky Fram, Bill Lorenz, Jennifer Hummel, Katie Schmid and Chris Lorenz. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Since moving to Norfolk, Mr. Lorenz had been a volunteer for the Virginia Symphony, Lee's Friends, Meals on Wheels and Chesapeake Bay Clean Up Days. He was a member of the boards of Sacred Heart Church and Freemason Harbor Condominiums, and a member of the Broad Bay Sailing Group.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Ave., Norfolk, at 7 p.m. A reception will follow in the commons area of the church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Virginia Symphony League c/o Anna Gray, Symphony League treasurer, P.O. Box 26, Norfolk, Va. 23501. The family will sprinkle his remains over the Chesapeake Bay from their sailboat, the Freelancer.
