Eleanor Craft Love, 78, of Chesopeian Colony, peacefully went home to her Lord July 6, 1996, following several extended illnesses.
She was the eldest daughter of Harry B. and Mary H. Craft of Atlanta, Ga. A younger sister, Mary C. Meyers also predeceased her. She had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Love was the beautiful loving wife of William P. Love for 58 years. She was a devoted mother, a gracious homemaker and a resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach since 1964. She attended Ohio State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Additional formal education was received at Atlanta Institute of Art. Her interests, talents and contributions to the several communities where she resided included the Arts and Crafts and Volunteer Services, Norfolk YWCA Board, Lee's Friends Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Presbyterian Women and Chesopeian Colony Garden Club. An accomplished artist, Mrs. Love was a past member of Tidewater Artists, Art Alliance and Chesapeake Bay Water Colorists.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sherry Love of Virginia Beach; two sons, Richard H. Love of Virginia Beach and W. David Love of Edgewater, Fla., and their respective wives, Eunice W. Love and Sydney S. Love; four grandchildren, Denise L. Stafford of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Chad Love of Virginia Beach, Natalie Ney of Gainesville, Fla., and David S. Love of Edgewater; a sister, Barbara Mercer; two nephews, Bruce and Harry Robertson of Albany, Ga.; a niece, Robin Lee Grasse of New Mexico; a beloved sister-in-law, Jean Love Smith of Garland, Texas; and a loyal little canine companion, Smokey.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 36th and Pacific Ave., Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Dr. J. Scottie Griffin presiding. A reception will follow in Stanton Hall. Interment will be private in Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Kellum Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Church Food Closet, the Salvation Army, the Union Mission or Virginia Beach SPCA.
