MARY G. LINGAMFELTER

Mary Godwin Lingamfelter, of the 7700 block of Lambert Place, died July 5, 1996, in a local convalescent center.

Mrs. Lingamfelter, the daughter of the late Edward Phillips and Mary Hussey Godwin, was born in Tarboro, N.C. She was the widow of the late Frederick N. Lingamfelter. She had retired from the Norfolk Public Schools as a librarian at J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School after many years. She was a member of Ghent United Methodist Church and a former member of Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. She attended the College of William and Mary.

She is survived by a son, Frederick Phillips Lingamfelter and his wife, Elizabeth Ann Silliphant of Houston, Texas; a sister, Margaret Reinhard of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Susan L. Sackett and her husband, Edmond of Kissimmie, Fla., Paul Lingamfelter and his wife, Dianna of Charlotte, N.C., Elisabeth Goffinet Meakel and her husband, Dr. Timothy Meakel of Charlottesville, Va., Jon Goffinet and his wife, Donielle of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert Goffinet of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a great-grandchild, Tiffany Lingamfelter of Charlotte.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. H. Leroy Seibert. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ghent United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister at 7710 Lambert Place, Norfolk. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
