COLLIS L. ACKISS SR.

Collis L. Ackiss Sr., 92, died July 5, 1996, after a long illness.

A native of Princess Anne County, he was the son of the late Paul Whitehead Ackiss and Josephine Sykes Ackiss and he was the widower of Nellie M. James Ackiss.

Mr. Ackiss was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. He was a member of the Jamestown Society, Sons of The American Revolution and the Princess Anne Masonic Lodge 25. He was retired from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Ackiss is survived by two sisters, Page A. Lobeck of Virginia Beach and Ruby A. Wrenn of Farmington Hills, Mich.; two grandsons, Richard P. Ackiss, David M. Ackiss and his wife, Nancye Ratliff Ackiss; two great-grandchildren, Holly H. Ackiss and David M. Ackiss Jr.; daughter-in-law, Betty Penn Ackiss, all of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 1996 in Nimmo Church Cemetery by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
