WILLIAM J. WALKER

William Jefferson ``Jeff'' Walker, 88, of the 200 block of Sir Oliver Road, died July 6, 1996 in Norfolk.

Mr. Walker was born in Ellenboro, N.C., and was a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, a graduate of Maury High School, class of 1926 and a graduate of North Carolina State. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Nita Walker and a son, John Michael Walker.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Brumfield of Virginia Beach; a son, William Jefferson Walker Jr. of Lovettsville, Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Tim Dixon. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today to receive friends.

Quiet, gentle, strong and extremely honest, he was the anchor of his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
