William Alonza Beck, 83, of the 7000 block of University Drive, died July 4, 1996, in his home.
Mr. Beck was retired from The Virginian-Pilot. Born in West Munden, Chesapeake, he was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise G. Beck; a son, William H. Beck of Norfolk; a daughter, Jean B. Bowdan of Nicholasville, Ky.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Peter M. Wherry at Queen Street Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
